First First of May

Primo Primo Maggio, sembra un gioco di parole ma fu così: nel 1990 in occasione delle celebrazioni della festa dei lavoratori, con la neonata donQuijote feci il progetto della prima edizione del concerto del Primo Maggio, appuntamento annuale nella Storica Piazza S.Giovanni a Roma dove migliaia di giovani si radunano per celebrare la festa dei lavoratori. Un festival musicale dove i nomi più noti e meno noti della musica italiana si alternano sul palco per 12 ore. L’organizzatore era sempre l’unico ed inimitabile David Zard. Io feci il progetto di allestimento della piazza, la logistica ed i servizi, il palco, Dory curava la produzione.

All’epoca non mi sembrò un granché, ma fu il primo di una lunga serie ancora ininterrotta.

 

First First of May, it’s not a trick but a real thing: in 1990 for the centenary of the workers day, with the newborn donQuijote co. I did the project for the first edition of the First of May concert, annual meeting in the historical S.Giovanni square in Rome for thousand young people gathered by the unions to celebrate the workers day. It was music festival, with all the Italian pop stars and the new talents on the stage along twelve hours: a production by the one and only David Zard. I did the set up project, logistics and services and the stage design, Dory had the production organization. At that time it didn’t mean much to me, but it was the first in a long row of meeting not finished yet.
